Die
CD "Story of a Jazz Piano, volume 2", ist eine Zeitreise
durch die Geschichte und Entwicklung des Jazz-Pianos von 1930
bis 2004. Angefangen bei Fats Waller und seinem unverwechselbaren
Stride Piano Stil, über Swing und Bebop Pianisten wie Wynton
Kelly, Bill Evans oder Oscar Peterson, bis hin zu den modernen
Tastenzauberern wie Keith Jarrett oder Herbie Hancock, dokumentiert
das Trio auf sehr eindrucksvolle Weise die unterschiedlichen Stile
des Jazz Pianos und deren rhythmischen Begleiter.
René Pretschner, Haro Eller und Jörg Hedtmann setzten
hier gemeinsam eine Edition fort, die der Pianist mit Solo Aufnahmen
berühmter Jazz Standards im Jahr 2000 begann. Bei einem außergewöhnlichen
Konzertabend des Trios im Januar 2004 in der Stadthalle Wuppertal,
entstanden einige Aufnahmen dieser CD. Im Juli 2004 wurde dann
bei einer Studio Session, mit weiteren Trio Einspielungen von
Kompositionen & Arrangements René Pretschners das Album
ergänzt.

The
CD “Story of a Jazz Piano, vol. 2“ is a wonderful
trip through the history and the development of the Jazz Piano
from 1930 through to today, 2004. The Trio demonstrates the different
styles of the Jazz Piano and their rhythmical accompanists in
a very impressive way. Starting with Fats Waller (bonustrack)
and his unmistakeable Stride Piano Style followed by Swing and
Bebop Pianists like Wynton Kelly, Bill Evans or Oscar Peterson
and is finally completed by the modern key wizards — Keith
Jarrett or Herbie Hancock.
René Pretschner, Haro Eller and Jörg Hedtmann follow
in this way by contributing an edition together in which the pianist
started with solo recordings of the famous Jazz standards in 2000.
In January of 2004, initialy reordings of this CD were developed
at an extraordinary evening concert performed by the trio in the
city hall of Wuppertal. During a studio session in July 2004,
the album was accomplished by additional Trio recordings of compositions
and arrangements by René Pretschner.
